Sumantha:

So we all know that we need to be consistent to get success, whether we are talking about marketing, whether we are talking about how we show up, and whether we are talking about delivering what we offer. Consistency is mentioned so much you’re probably fed up of hearing it. But jokes aside, it is so crucial that it deserves an episode all on its own.

Sumantha:

If you take a moment to choose a brand or a business person you admire, do a quick investigation of what they have been doing over time. You’ll see that their secret sauce and their playbook is consistency.

Sumantha:

What does this mean for us as education business owners? The first thing we have to recognise is that consistency isn’t the same as frequency.

Sumantha:

If I said to you, you need to be consistent on Instagram to grow your following, that doesn’t necessarily mean frequent posting. It means whatever frequency you choose needs to remain consistent.

Sumantha:

Something I have done with this podcast, for example, is I have always published a longer episode every Monday at 6:00 AM UK time. Every 10 weeks I take a one-week break. Then I added a short Wednesday episode, also published at 6:00 AM.

Sumantha:

Messages like that show me how consistency pays off because people get into a habit and they can only do that if you are consistent. The habit is really important because the success of a podcast relies on loyalty.

Sumantha:

Consistency usually comes up as a strategy in content marketing but it’s equally important in other areas of our businesses. Our offers form the foundation of ongoing sales and of other people spreading the word.

Sumantha:

When we think about our offers, consistency is powerful. What you are offering forms part of your brand. A useful exercise is to list all the things that make you unique and how you deliver your service or product.

Sumantha:

If you can analyse and identify your key points, you’ll find a core part of your brand. When you do, make sure everything you offer includes that element so your brand feels cohesive.

Sumantha:

I was recently chatting to a friend about my brand. She said she associates me with wearing black and with community and collaboration. This has become a core part of my brand and appears across my offers.

Sumantha:

By being consistent with elements people associate you with, you create trust. They know it will be included in what you do. This also applies to branding, which is like your overall business personality and what people associate with you.

Sumantha:

Repetition feels strange but it’s powerful. Whether it’s a style or a particular message, repeating builds recognition. This is how you build relationships with strangers through content marketing, email or social media.

Sumantha:

So, as you can see, consistency isn’t about posting all the time. It’s about messaging, branding and quality. Identify what makes you unique and run that through everything you do. That becomes the foundation of your marketing, your sales and your tutoring business growth. Thanks for listening, please subscribe, and leave a review.
