Published on: 17th June, 2024

Burnout is horrible. I know many of you have experienced it, and still do.

Something I learnt (the hard way) was that leaving teaching didn't solve the problem. I had to change my habits, my mindset.

In this episode, I share 4 ways to mitigate it from hitting you.

I'd love to know what you'd add to these tips.

Enjoy :-)

Welcome back to another episode of our podcast. Today, we're going to dive into a topic that affects so many of us: burnout. Burnout can be incredibly debilitating, and it's important to recognize the signs early and take steps to avoid it. I'm going to share four ways you can avoid burnout and keep your energy and passion alive in whatever you do.

First, let's talk about setting boundaries. It's crucial to set clear boundaries between your work and personal life. This means not checking emails late at night, taking regular breaks throughout the day, and ensuring you have time for hobbies and relaxation.

Secondly, prioritize self-care. This isn't just about taking time off work, but actively engaging in activities that rejuvenate you. Whether it's exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones, make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine.

Third, learn to delegate. You don't have to do everything yourself. Trust your team, or outsource tasks that aren't essential for you to handle personally. This can free up your time and reduce your stress levels significantly.

Lastly, keep learning and growing. Stagnation can lead to burnout, so make sure you're always challenging yourself and seeking new opportunities. This could be through professional development, picking up a new hobby, or even just exploring new ideas and perspectives. By staying curious and engaged, you can maintain your enthusiasm and prevent burnout from creeping in.

I hope these tips are helpful for you. Remember, burnout is a serious issue, but with the right strategies, you can avoid it and continue to thrive in your personal and professional life.
