PS 113 Don’t Compare Your Chapter One to Someone Else’s Chapter Twenty
Comparing yourself to others is natural, but it can stop you seeing your own progress. Behind every successful tutor or business owner is a messy chapter one.
In this episode, I share how to reframe comparison so it drives growth instead of doubt. You will learn how to turn admiration into action and take steps that move your tutoring or education business forward.
Enjoy :-)

We tend to compare ourselves to other people, don't we?
Sumantha::And I'm not gonna tell you not to because I think it's completely natural, but sometimes we compare ourselves to people who are way ahead of.
Sumantha::We see their polished content. We see their fully booked schedules, we see their thriving communities.
Sumantha::We see how they're making sales every single day, but that's like opening a book straight to page 20 and feeling inadequate because the main character has already survived the first five. Plot twists.
Sumantha::So behind every chapter 20 is a messy and uncertain chapter one. You just don't see it.
Sumantha::We see people where they're at right now.
Sumantha::Very rarely do we have an opportunity to see the whole journey or even to be a part of it.
Sumantha::When I first started, when I left the classroom, when I became an independent tutor, I did compare myself to other tutors.
Sumantha::They were selling out, they were having loads of people in their group classes. They were, they just had the answers to everything.
Sumantha::They were charging more than me, but I forgot to pay attention to the fact that they had been refining their craft for years.
Sumantha::So instead of asking, why am I not there yet, try reframing that to what can I do today that my future self will thank me for?
Sumantha::Because if you are comparing yourself to people who are further ahead than you, if that's making you feel inadequate, then. You're not comparing the right thing.
Sumantha::You're not looking at it in the right way because when you feel inadequate, really that's a form of admiration.
Sumantha::You are thinking, I want to be like that, and so instead of sitting in that feeling of inadequacy, instead you can look at them and think, well, what do I need to do?
Sumantha::What can I do right now that will take me a step forward to getting to where they are?
Sumantha::Your journey, our journeys are valid at every single stage.
