PS 138 The difference between waiting and pausing

Waiting and pausing can look the same from the outside, but they are very different. In this episode, I explain why that distinction matters in your tutoring or education business.

I talk about how waiting often comes from avoidance, while pausing is intentional and creates clarity. And why slowing down can lead to better decisions in your marketing, sales and business growth.

Enjoy :-)

Sumantha:

From the outside, waiting and pausing can look exactly the same. Nothing obvious is happening. There is no visible action and things feel quieter. But internally, they are very different experiences. Waiting often comes with a sense of avoidance and a low level discomfort.

Sumantha:

There is a feeling that you should be doing something, but you are putting it off. Pausing, on the other hand, is intentional. A pause has a purpose. It creates space to think, to reflect, and to let things settle before the next step. In business, pauses are often misinterpreted as a lack of ambition.

Sumantha:

A pause allows you to ask better questions. Is this the right next step? Am I acting out of urgency or intention? Does this need to happen now or can it wait? Waiting can keep you stuck mentally, while pausing helps you move forward with more confidence.

Sumantha:

Both responses are human. We all wait, hesitate, and pause at different times. The value comes from noticing which one you are doing. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is give yourself permission to stop pushing, listen, and pay attention.
