PS 109 Resistance Means You’re Onto Something

In this episode, I share how feeling resistance is a sign you’re about to do something important.

Inspired by The War of Art, I encourage you to see resistance as proof of growth and to keep going.

Resistance means you’re onto something.

Enjoy :-)

Sumantha::

Have you ever noticed how the closer you get to doing something brave, something that could really move the needle in your business or in your life, the more resistance shows up? I remember feeling this when. I resigned from the classroom. I knew it was the right thing to do.

Sumantha::

I wanted it for ages, but when I handed my resignation in, I kind of had this kind of, these like cold feet feeling. I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing, and suddenly I was seeing all the great things about my job that I was walking away from. Now I had, I've had a few transitions in my career, so I recognized the feeling and I kind of did it anyway.

Sumantha::

And something I've learned is that resistance isn't always a sign to stop. It's actually a sign to pay attention. Stephen Pressfield, in his book, the War of Art, talks about resistance as a natural response to any creative act that matters. It's fear's way of trying to keep you safe. So if you feel resistance about, let's say, launching a new offer or raising your prices or putting yourself out there, it probably means it matters.

Sumantha::

Instead of backing off, lean in, get curious what's the story you're telling yourself, and is it even true? Because when resistance shows up, it's often a sign of growth. It's proof that you're stepping outside of your comfort zone. So next time it hits. Take a breath. Keep going because resistance usually means you're onto something.
